{"id":51062,"date":"2026-04-03T06:01:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T05:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cpps.pt\/?p=51062"},"modified":"2026-03-27T16:16:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T16:16:14","slug":"cristo-fue-crucificado-por-nosotros","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cpps.pt\/en\/cristo-fue-crucificado-por-nosotros\/","title":{"rendered":"Christ was crucified for us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before contemplating Christ on the cross, we have to ask the question: Why? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we read San Pablo&#039;s letters we found some clues as to where the answer was: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Romans: Jesus died on the cross in a totally free and happy way so that the man stopped being \u201ccarnal\u201d and became \u201cspiritual\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Galatians and Corinthians: Jesus died to give us \u201clife\u201d and reconcile humanity with God and so that in humanity we reconciled ourselves with others. He also states in Galatians that he wanted to die to free us from sin and convert us into children of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, in the letters of San Pablo, it is said that Jesus died on the cross to give us a knowledge of the charity of God, because he was enemied with Him, due to the original sin, he sent us to his Hijo so that the rapprochement and reconciliation could be produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in San Juan, we can find another answer to why Christ died on the cross?: for the great love that he had for the Father and for the great love that he had for us, for this is the greatest act of love, to give his life for others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"970\" src=\"https:\/\/cpps.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/S1.jpg?wsr\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51063\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cpps.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/S1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/cpps.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/S1-768x828.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cpps.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/S1-11x12.jpg 11w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The image can be seen at the 28th Las Edades del Hombre exhibition (Zamora).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For this reconciliation between God and humanity, hubies were enough with a small gesture so that we were redeemed, but we accepted the most ignominious death, the death of the evildoers, the death of the marginalized:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>To show us how much God wants us<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>How important we are to \u00c9l<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>To determine that salvation is achieved with humility and perseverance in the depths, by being faithful and obedient to the will of God,<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>It&#039;s also a \u201cfree\u201d act, because you don&#039;t have to kill yourself to the cross to get something, it&#039;s simple and done out of disinterested love.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We cannot remain passive, as spectators, before the spectacle of the cross, but we must do something. What? unite with \u00c9l to die with \u00c9l and I will resurrect with \u00c9l.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what do you die from? to everything that is carnal: selfishness, envidia, revancha, insolidaridad, criticism, zancadillas and everything that molests or harms others, to resurrect what is spiritual: the love of God and the neighbor, like our own selves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Commitments of the death of Christ on the cross:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>1- Reconcile ourselves with God, and that is to say, we have to count on God throughout our lives: in work, in leisure, in happiness and also when we have problems or difficulties, illnesses or death.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>2- Learning to live as children of God and treating everyone as children of God and not being marginalized, not being condemned by political, religious or social ideologies, because we are all their children, with the same dignity and category.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>3- Live in the volunteer role of a Father and spend time with your loved ones like Christ on the cross.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>4- Living an elderly life, without believing that I am worth more than others, without appearing to be what I am not, I don&#039;t have to and without looking \u201cover my shoulder\u201d at others because I am not like you.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>5- Do not be astonished before God when pain visits us, suffering or any contradiction, but \u201cbeing\u201d like the Virgin at the feet of the cross who \u201cstood on the ground and in silence\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>6- Offer what we are and have to others in a free way, without expecting anything in exchange, being in solidarity with everyone, with those who are suffering and with those who are happy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>7- Be people of peace and peacemakers and not go through life filled with violence, tension and war.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The death of Christ on the cross asks us to wash away the errors of the world so that evil is converted for good; Furthermore, we commit ourselves to the Church, to our communities and to our Families so that they are more evangelical and more missionary and so that we can be testimonies for all of God&#039;s Love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Fr.
