Recovering from Kristin

They called it Kristin. It was a violent storm that struck the central region of Portugal in the early morning of January 28th of this year. As a consequence, fields were devastated, forests uprooted, houses destroyed, and there was a prolonged power outage…

The Missionaries of the Precious Blood suffered the effects of Kristin's violence, who tore off part of the roof of the mission house in Proença a Nova and caused considerable damage in the surrounding area.

Finally, it was possible to start the roof restoration work. The estimated cost is 130,000 euros. The entire roof will be restored, with the installation of thermal insulation and new tiles.

Currently, there is a project aimed at renovating the entire house, adapting it better for the mission. It has not yet been possible to develop the project due to a lack of financial resources. This is an important local infrastructure as it houses many people from various Portuguese-speaking countries.
