CPPS Missionaries from Tanzania in Spain
Meeting with the Precious Blood family on the feast of the founder, St. Gaspar del Bufalo, on October 21, 2026, was a blessing. Sharing my missionary journey with those who share our spirituality quenched everyone's thirst to hear how devotion to the Precious Blood is lived in other parts of the world.
St. Gaspar del Bufalo, the Apostle of the Blood of Christ, felt motivated, as a missionary, by devotion to the Blood of Christ shed on the cross. Every follower of this spirituality, man or woman, is challenged to participate and give their best in building the Kingdom of God.

I would like to highlight four aspects of my presentation: the origin of my missionary vocation (from diocesan seminarian to seminarian of the Most Precious Blood), missionary experiences in Chile and Tanzania, and my current ministry as a parish priest and vicar for religious orders in a region that has already welcomed refugees from the genocide in Rwanda and Burundi.
A vocation that began in Tanzania.
My path to the priesthood began when I entered the Seminary of the Diocese of Bukoba, in the Kagera region (Tanzania). Upon finishing my secondary studies at the minor seminary in Rubya, I met the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, who were at a thanksgiving Eucharist for one of the first CPPS priests ordained in Tanzania. This encounter left an indelible mark, igniting in me the desire to be a missionary.
Missionary work in Chile
During my fourth year of theology studies, I was sent to Chile, along with two fellow students, for a pastoral experience. Here I began to learn to speak Spanish. After being ordained in 2003, I returned to Chile to serve in what was then the Vicariate for five years.
I was inspired to witness how our missionaries worked to make St. Gaspar's dream a reality in people's lives. Their service encompassed parish ministries, ecclesial base communities, St. Gaspar College, and missionary work among the Mapuche people in Icalma.
Promoting peace and reconciliation at the border.
In 2021, the Province of Tanzania was invited by the Bishop of the Diocese of Rulenge Ngara to collaborate in the pastoral work being carried out in the region, which at the time had sheltered refugees from the genocide in Rwanda and Burundi in 1994. The Bishop requested that the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, through their charism and spirituality, work for peace, justice, and reconciliation. Even today, two of our missionaries are working tirelessly to ensure that revenge is overcome by forgiveness grounded in love.
While it is a difficult mission, it is not impossible. The challenge is great: some members of the clergy and religious were involved in the "murders," and our task as priests is to help them understand that forgiveness first heals those who are wounded.
Looking to the future: Lay Associates
I conclude my remarks by highlighting the ongoing work in developing a guide for Lay Associates of the Most Precious Blood. The goal is to ensure uniform training for members, from the initial consultation to their final commitment.
