Proence volunteers return to Guinea
Proence volunteers return to Guinea
It was on August 17th that a group of Proence volunteers returned to Guinea-Bissau to continue projects that had already started.
Carla, Cátia, Paulo, Ramiro and Father Virgílio headed to Bissaquel, Bissau, where the Missionaries of the Most Precious Blood have a Catholic Mission to continue the computerization project at the Professor Adriano de Vasconcelos High School in Safim and to begin the computerization project at the Sister Romana Sacchetti Outpatient Care Unit.

Today was the day to deliver to the Outpatient Care Unit Sister Romana Sacchetti the medicines that generously Roda Pharmacy Proença-a-Nova offered us. In fact, this pharmacy, through its owners and employees, has been a great ally of this Guinean health care structure, having already contributed several donations to this end.

During this Sunday afternoon, volunteers prepared and packaged the medication that will be available when this Health Unit opens tomorrow, Monday.
The Sr. Romana Sacchetti Outpatient Care Unit began in 2014 and was formerly called the Health Care Center. In its short life, it has already undergone several improvements. It opened with one doctor and one nurse. Today, it has two doctors, four nurses, and two analysts.

In 2024, the unit opened a monitoring unit for pregnant women and is implementing maternal and child health services with the support of the Guinean Ministry of Health. Since May, with this support, the Ministry of Health has authorized the administration of vaccines at this unit.
Father Lima and Father Florentino dream of expanding the Unit's scope of action so that Bissaquel can have nearby healthcare.
Many of these projects have been financed by the Missionary communities of Spain and Portugal and by the Cáceres NGO “COPAMATER”.
We can say that there are Guinean dreams that come true... and reality humanizes people... people who generously give and people who humbly receive.

Thanks!
