Being with the poor

The Church celebrates the 9th World Day of the Poor on November 16th, with the theme "You are my hope" (Psalm 71:5).

Pope Leo XIV, in his message, states: “The poor are not a pastime for the Church, but rather our most beloved brothers and sisters, because each one of them, with their existence and also with the words and wisdom they bring with them, leads us to touch with our own hands the truth of the Gospel. Therefore, the World Day of the Poor "It aims to remind our communities that the poor are at the heart of all pastoral action. Not only in its charitable dimension, but also in what the Church celebrates and proclaims. Through their voices, their stories, their faces, God assumed their poverty to make us rich. All forms of poverty, without exception, are a call to live the Gospel concretely and to offer effective signs of hope."

The Missionaries of the Precious Blood are with the poor.

There are many initiatives in Portugal, Spain, and Guinea-Bissau to "walk with the poor." Through the structures of Caritas or the work of St. Vincent de Paul, the food bank, and parish support for those living with "hearts oppressed by serious difficulties." We are attentive and available to hear the muffled voices of those who ask for help. We are hope!

In Guinea-Bissau, we respond to the cries of the poorest with diverse structures: education, scholarships, health, water supply, and personalized assistance to address specific human needs.

The most serious poverty is not knowing God.

The CPPS communities take care of the spiritual dimension, offering "friendship, blessing, the Word, Sacraments, and the proposal of a path of growth and maturity in faith."
