Through prayer with the Word of God

The third Sunday in Ordinary Time is dedicated to the Word of God. This was designated by Pope Francis in 2019.

This year we are challenged to live “"Through prayer with the Word of God.".  Pope Leo XIV says in his worldwide prayer network: “Let us pray that prayer with the Word of God may be nourishment in our lives and a source of hope in our communities, helping us to build a more fraternal and missionary Church.”

You Missionaries of the Most Precious Blood They exercise their service in the Church and in the world by living and proclaiming the Word of God: the ministry of the word is one of their strengths. Following the example of St. Gaspar del Bufalo, he was an authorized minister of the Word of God because he lived what he proclaimed, and even more, he allowed the power of God's word to touch hearts in order to convert life, culture, and the world. When he arrived in a town, he would place a huge crucifix in the center of the square and could spend a long time speaking of Him who shed his blood on the cross as a sign of love and redemption.

Today we are invited to prayer., ...to silence human words, so often inhumane, to allow God to speak within us. In attentively listening to God's voice, we find the right path for our lives and for the world. And we can say: how this noisy and deaf world needs a Voice to calm, console, and guide… Take your Bible and walk the path daily with the Gospel of the day. Realize that the word is for you, first and foremost. Welcome the message, give thanks, pray for some special intention. In the end, you will feel the desire to be a living word, witnessing to a living Christ. (Fr. Luís Filipe)
