S. GASPAR DEL BÚFALO IN AFRICAN LANDS

The Missionaries of the Precious Blood are on mission in Africa, specifically in Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau, and Cape Verde.

News from Father Ilídio Santos da Graça

We received news from Cape Verde about Father Ilídio. After serving the Church from the communities of Proença-a-Nova and Vila Viçosa, he requested permission to return to his homeland, the island of São Nicolau in Cape Verde. The reason: to accompany his elderly mother, who recently turned 100 years old.

The Iberian Province of the CPPS established contact with Bishop Ildo Fortes of the Diocese of Mindelo (Cape Verde), who kindly opened the doors of his diocese. Father Ilídio left at the beginning of 2023 and became a missionary in his hometown, Vila da Ribeira Brava (São Nicolau), at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary. He also serves other communities.

The CPPS missionary priest carries with him the spirituality of the Most Precious Blood. He recently sent us news of the "enthronement" of the image of St. Gaspar del Bufalo in the parish church, with the caption: "many sprouts have sprung from the stump that enthrones the image of St. Gaspar in the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary...".

We implore God's blessing, through the intercession of St. Gaspar del Bufalo, upon Father Ilídio and his family. May his missionary work among his people bear abundant fruit. (Fr. Luís Filipe)
