Are you a missionary?

The month of October begins tomorrow. It is the month of missions. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Pope's messages for the missions.

This is a characteristic of the Church: to be missionary! It brings the Good News of the Gospel to all people. This proclamation has taken place in many forms and with many languages throughout the ages. The missionary spirit of the Church remains very much alive, now involving all Christians: "every man and woman is a mission," said Pope Francis. Christian communities must have a missionary spirit because there are many people who do not know the true face of God.

The first missionaries of the Precious Blood to arrive in Spain, and later in Vila Viçosa, became present precisely through the charism of proclaiming the Word of God: according to historical information, they arrived in the Diocese of Évora (Portugal) in 1930 at the request of the local bishop, who had heard about the mission they were developing in Valencia de Alcántara (Spain).

Missionaries have been present in Guinea-Bissau since 1999. Missionary initiatives focus on various fields beyond parish life: education, health, care for the elderly, work with young people, charity in various areas… We are also in Cape Verde.

Thus, during the month of October you can follow the Missionaries of the Precious Blood day by day with your prayers and with messages from the World Mission Days. It is also a suitable month for concrete acts of mission.
