Missionaries of the Most Precious Blood received by Pope Leo XIV

Private audience during the XXII General Assembly

On the day September 18, 2025, the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV received in private audience you Missionaries of the Most Precious Blood, gathered in Rome on the occasion of their XXII General Assembly.

This meeting was a moment of sharing and encouragement, in which the Pope valued the spiritual and pastoral heritage of the Congregation, founded by Saint Gaspare del Búfalo.

The testimony of the founders

In his speech, the Pope recalled the courage and vision of Saint Gaspare, who, “open to the action of the Holy Spirit, he knew how to interpret the signs of the times and respond, in an enlightened way, to the demands that were emerging”.

The Holy Father emphasized that the founder, through popular missions and the spread of devotion to the Blood of Christ, confronted the spirit of impiety and irreligion that marked his time, leaving a current and inspiring example.

Guidelines for the present and future of the Congregation

Pope Leo XIV highlighted three fundamental aspects of the life and mission of the Missionaries of the Most Precious Blood:

  • Life together: as a place of sanctification, inspiration and strength for the apostolate.
  • Obedience as an act of love: following the example of Jesus Christ.
  • Reading the signs of the times: always returning to the founder's charisma to capture the inspiring spark and put it to the service of the present.

A call to service and hope

In conclusion, the Pope encouraged the Missionaries to live their mission with fidelity and creativity, transforming inherited values into concrete actions of service, reconciliation, and hope for today's world.
